What is B.L.A.Z.E.?
Coaching
We will guide you and support you on your entrepreneurial journey. Our coaches are seasoned entrepreneurs and can help you build a business from the ground up.
Hands-On Learning
We will connect you with entrepreneurs and give you opportunities to experience "a day in the life" as a small business owner. We will also facilitate ways for you to test out your business idea and make your first sales.
Financial Support
Each participant will be given a stipend of $4,500 to help their business grow.
Learning opportunities will include:
- July 17th-20th Summer Intensive with $600 stipend provided
- Monthly Learning Sessions every 2nd Wednesday of the month
- Ongoing business coaching, including at least 2 coaching sessions per month
- Site visits to local MESO businesses
- Vending opportunities at local markets and events
Application Requirements
- 18-24yrs
- Lives in the Portland Metro Area
- Beaverton, Gresham, Hillsboro, Milwaukie, Lake Oswego, Oregon City, Fairview, Wood Village, Troutdale, Tualatin, Tigard.
- Must submit a 90 second pitch of your business idea, story, and why you are a good fit for our program. (Tip: Let your personality shine!)
- Example: Lemonade Stand
- What products: Natural and Frozen lemonade
- Goals: Start with lemonade and eventually add other flavors like strawberry and pineapple.
- Why my product?: Because lemonade is a great drink summer or winter, refreshing, and a good source of vitamin D. My business will be customer service focused so they have a great and unique experience!
- Why do I want to start my own business?: Because I come from a family of entrepreneurs and always wanted to start a business of my own. I love the idea of being my own boss and providing a quality product.
