The Business Development Satellite Manager will be responsible for office management and delivery of business consulting and technical assistance services to prospective and existing MESO clients. Supervising/Leading/Training/Managing business development program staff in business best practices. Additional responsibilities include reporting responsibilities and managing satellite programs if applicable. 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide/ Train staff for efficient and effective one-on-one technical assistance, advising and consulting services to program participants utilizing a professional approach with relevant and accurate business acumen. 
  • Recruiting new staff, interviewing, training, and reviewing current staff performance and offering suggestions for improvement 
  • Managing programs, providing training to staff, and timely reporting 
  • Writing reports and data management for funders


JOB DUTIES

  • Help in the development of a curriculum for small business clients on how to plan, develop, and operate a successful small business, specifically in relation to business strategy, marketing, operations, human resources, compliance, and financial planning. 
  • Analyzing business practices and recommending improvements to staff and clients 
  • Leading meetings, managing teams on a project or in a relevant department 
  • Obtaining new clients and finding new business opportunities 
  • Networking with clients, potential clients, and other consultants and like organizations 
  • Suggesting improvements to systems such as workflows 
  • Traveling and monitoring different satellite offices, if applicable, and working with business clients and staff 
  • Developing relationships with clients and employees to foster trust and understanding 
  • Fostering a culture of change and assessing effectiveness of changes 
  • Establishing the importance of regulatory and compliance measures and avoiding risk 
  • Inspiring productive changes in the workforce by interacting with each employee 
  • Remain in compliance with contract guidelines and reporting requirements. Using Outcome Tracker and other tracking/database systems, accurately document activities and outcomes, including: time tracking, project progress, client goals and action plans, and client activities and achievements.   
  • Participate in cooperative relationships with other economic development and business assistance agencies and professionals in alignment with MESO’s mission. 
  • Ability to balance multiple tasks; work well independently; and prioritize and meet specific deadlines. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES 

Directly supervises up to, and no more than, 10 employees in the Business Development Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include assisting with interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems. 


QUALIFICATIONS  

Previous small business management experience. Ability to perform essential job duties with or without reasonable accommodation and without posing a direct threat to the safety or health of employees or others. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


LANGUAGE SKILLS 

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors. 


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS 

Has advanced mathematical and analytical skills relating to finance. Ability to synthesize complex or diverse information; collect and research data; use intuition and experience to complement data; design work flows and procedures; generate creative solutions; demonstrate attention to detail; gather and analyze information skillfully; complete projects on time and budget; demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness; work within approved budget; develop and implement cost saving measures; contribute to profits and revenue; conserve organizational resources; analyze market and competition; identify external threats and opportunities; adapt strategy to changing conditions. 


COMPUTER SKILLS

Very organized, detail-orientated, fast, and comfortable with various software programs including Microsoft Officer products.   


REASONING ABILITY 

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
